About Me

Welcome to Daisies Movies!

I’m Paulina Żurawska, a filmmaker, writer, and researcher with a deep passion for cinema, philosophy, and storytelling. I hold a Master of Letters in Film Studies from the University of St Andrews (Distinction, 2021), where my research explored Warren Buckland’s puzzle films through a queer-feminist lens, bridging film-philosophy with neuroscience. Before that, I studied at the University of Stirling, where I received the Best Dissertation Prize for my work on Ecosophical Spectatorship in Post-2010 Feminist Horror Films.

My love for film goes beyond academia—I’ve worked in freelance film production and media, and I run this blog as a space to explore cinema in all its complexity. Whether it’s feminist horror, surrealist storytelling, or radical film theory, Daisies Movies is where I dive deep into the artistry, politics, and philosophy of film.

I’m also in the process of developing a PhD proposal, Fungal Cinema & the Decolonisation of Thought – Exploring Gender, Temporality, and Intelligence Through Film and Philosophy. My research interests lie in new media, queer and feminist theory, and Deleuzian philosophy, with a particular fascination for films that challenge conventional narratives and structures.

Through this blog, I aim to share critical essays, reflections, and deep dives into the films that inspire, provoke, and stay with me. I’d love to hear from fellow cinephiles, so feel free to reach out or share your thoughts in the comments!

Thanks for being here—let’s talk cinema.

A Kaleidoscopic Exploration: Films Through a Lens of Diversity

DaisiesMovies is a labyrinthine journey through the realms of cinema, dissecting and celebrating each film through a prism of gender, race, and philosophical thought. Our mission: to spotlight systemic injustices and ignite a spirit of revolution in our community of cinephiles.
